Marara graduated with an LLB and was admitted to Auckland High Court as a Barrister and Solicitor. Prior to graduating, she completed a Diploma in Management and began her law degree while at Inland Revenue. Marara joined Tamaki Legal in 2020 and has been involved in various inquiries in the Waitangi Tribunal. These include the Māori Military Veterans Kaupapa Inquiry, Housing Policy & Services Kaupapa Inquiry, the Mana Wāhine Kaupapa Inquiry and the Taihape District Inquiry, and the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Inquiry.


Marara grew up in the Waikato, close to her Marae in Mangatangi, within a hapori that held whānau, hapū-iwi and Kīngitanga values. Marara is driven by these core values and the legacy and memories of tribal Rangatira, her Tīpuna and Nanny, Mere.
